Max Sudhues

In a series of installations Max Sudhues is picking out the game of deception in reality, the world of imagery and perception as a central theme. They show the “Making of …” images with light and shade and, other than the shadow theatre, where spotlights and shadow-casters are hidden from the audience behind the projection screen Sudhues is turning the difference between the reality created by the image and the reality arising of the image into an accessible image and stage room. In a playfully-technical experimental design objects and everyday sources of light, images of light and shadow as well as analogue and digital projections are forming a collage. In parallel or vertical, in a shifted or distorted way a visual kaleidoscope emerges, that refers to vision as a creative and subjective process. While playing with the difference between several realities alien to each other, Sudhues is creating poetic spaces which forge a link from silhouettes of the romantic period over expressionist film up to contemporary images.

Further Information

LichtRouten-Project: Playground Love

Max Sudhues turns the current situation in the decaying warehouse grounds into the leitmotif of his installation. In the “as-is”, he selects visual contexts and situations and uses them. For this purpose, he uses found objects, photography and filming, which he transmits into the room via slide projectors, overhead projectors and digital projectors. Accessible areas of light images are developing where reality and image reality are opposing.

LichtRouten-Site: Former “Damrosch” terrain

The former depots of the timber trade Damrosch are vacant since 2012.They will be torn down after LichtRouten.
