Beside sculpturing, photography, video and projection Dieter Kiessling’s portfolio is completed with installations steered by self-activated processes as well as such the public is reacting to. He belongs to the kind of artists that make technique of projection itself the object of artistic examination. During the first LichtRouten in 2002 for example he showed a projector that, instead of a picture, presented a projection lamp. He visualizes the invisible requirements of imagery and reflects them in their medial qualities.
He stages the blind spots of perception as independent sculptures.
LichtRouten-Project: Eyes, 2005
The interaction of image and afterimage in human perception is the subject of the video work of 2005. It shows the eyes of a boy who is looking directly into the camera. Using blending technique the boy’s eyes remain visible even when he blinks.
LichtRouten-Site: Post Building
The post office building was commissioned by the German Federal Post Office and opened in 1968. Currently, it is mostly empty.
