Cuppetelli + Mendoza
For some years Annica Cuppetelli and Christobal Mendoza have been working together on a series of works which are making the overlay and interleaving of material and virtual sphere in its aesthetic dimension the object of artistic praxis. They project digital formations and processes on physical surfaces and structures and fathom the stress field of synchronous and abnormal conditions. Panels and murals and site-specific installations are forming which stage the difference between analogue and digital sphere.
LichtRouten-Project: Notional Field
For the Notional Field a detail of a black wall surface is covered with elastic straps and is illuminated by a projection. The projected image congruently simulates the analogue tape structure of the projection base. When the observers stand in front of the installations silhouette-like shadows are developing. When they move, the projection follows their movements. The result is an aesthetic interplay, which translates the concepts of “Light and Motion” installations of the 1960s as “Interface” and “mapping” in the digital dimension.
Friedrich Kuhne founded his factory for special leathers in 1889. In the first years technical leather goods were produced. Karl Kuhne, after whom the company is named today, started managing it in 1927. In 1965 Hans-Joachim Kappel resumed the management. The company was growing and enlarged its production program. That’s why it moved into the buildings on Nordstreet 3-5, where it is still producing today.
